Overview
Rahat is the largest Bedouin settlement in the world, home to 70,000 residents in Israel's southern Negev region. Founded in 1972, it was established as a permanent home for previously nomadic Bedouin Arabs who now form the vast majority of the population.

Culture
As a Bedouin Muslim community, alcohol is not available. Dress modestly and respect mosque settings.
Food
Shwarma, falafel, and knaffe are local specialties. Meals are cheaper than in Beer Sheva. Budget 30-50 ILS per meal.
Language
Arabic is the primary language. Hebrew is also spoken, especially in transit contexts.
Transport
Buses 450 and 455 run every 20-30 minutes between Beer Sheva market and Rahat center. Private taxi from Beer Sheva costs approximately 50 shekels.
