Pulau Pisang (Indonesian for Banana Island, also known as Pulau Syahrir) is a tiny, completely overgrown island with just a handful of houses. Its western beach offers a stunning view of Banda Neira and the imposing Api Volcano rising behind it.

Before you go
Accommodation
No overnight stays possible unless pre-arranged with a local resident. This is strictly a day-trip destination.
Connectivity
No WiFi or cell data works on Pulau Pisang. The island is completely off-grid. Plan accordingly.
Food
Bring all food and drinks from Banda Besar. No restaurants or warungs exist on the island. Pack a picnic lunch.
Money
Only cash is accepted on Pulau Pisang. Bring sufficient Indonesian Rupiah from Banda Besar. There are no ATMs on the island.
Packing
Bring water shoes for rocky shore entry, plenty of sunscreen, drinking water (1.5L+ per person), snacks, and cash. Snorkel gear can be rented on Banda Neira.
Transport
Private boat charter is the only way to reach Pulau Pisang. Negotiate directly with boat owners in Neira or Lonthoir on Banda Besar.
