Overview
Protaras is a purpose-built resort town centered on the sheltered Fig Tree Bay, one of Cyprus's most recognizable beaches. The town emerged after the 1974 Turkish invasion rendered nearby Famagusta a ghost town, and it has grown steadily over three decades into a package-holiday hub.
