Overview
Porreres is a quiet agricultural town of under 6,000 people in Mallorca's central plain, named for Guillem de Porrera, a knight who accompanied King Jaume I during the island's 13th-century conquest. It's not a tourist destination but offers a glimpse of rural Mallorcan life with a stonking parish church, prehistoric talayot, and nearby hilltop sanctuaries.
