Overview
Ponferrada's centerpiece is the Castillo de los Templarios, a castle built by the Knights Templar and reconstructed in the 20th century. The city also serves as a major stopover for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago (Day 24 from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port brings hikers here after 27 km from Foncebadón).
