Overview
Plasencia is among the oldest towns in Extremadura, founded in 1186 under King Alfonso VIII and shaped by centuries of Reconquista history. The compact walled old town clusters around Plaza Mayor and contains a Gothic cathedral, a 16th-century aqueduct, and the Palacio de los Marqueses de Mirabel.
