Low crime overall but avoid neighborhoods west of North Street late at night. Housatonic River and Silver Lake have PCB contamination—do not enter the water.

BRTA buses run hourly 6AM-7PM, no Sundays. $1.25 per ride, $1.05 with 20-ride pass. Taxis require advance calling.
