Paterna is a historic city just 5 km northwest of Valencia, primarily known as a residential suburb but offering unique attractions for day-trippers. Its main appeal lies in the well-preserved cave dwellings clustered around the Torre Mudèjar and the spectacular annual Cordà fireworks festival.

Culture
Paterna hosts the spectacular Cordà fireworks festival on the last Sunday of August, where 70,000 rockets are fired in 30 minutes. The Moors and Christians parade in late August features nightly processions starting around 21:00-22:00.
Language
Spanish is the primary language. Valencian (a variant of Catalan) is also spoken locally.

Transport
Valencia Metro Line 1 connects Paterna to central Valencia in about 15-20 minutes. One-way fare is €2.10, round trip €4.
