Patan is a quiet historic town that served as Gujarat's capital for 650 years (746-1411). It holds a UNESCO World Heritage stepwell (Rani ki Vav), over 100 Jain temples, and an intact old city with carved havelis and medieval gates.

Language
Gujarati is the local language. Hindi is widely understood in markets and hotels. English signage is limited outside major sites like Rani ki Vav and Patan Museum.
Money
Patan is primarily cash-based. One HDFC ATM exists near the bus station; State Bank ATM near New District Court. Carry sufficient rupees from larger cities like Ahmedabad before arriving.
Transport
Autorickshaws are the primary local transport. Intercity buses depart from GSRTC bus stand. Trains connect to Ahmedabad (4.5 hrs) and Mehsana (faster option). No metered taxis or rideshare apps operate here.
Weather
Summers (March-June) can exceed 45°C; winter (November-February) is mild and comfortable for sightseeing. Monsoon (July-September) brings moderate rainfall.
