Food
Roulottes (evening food trucks) in waterfront park offer best value at 1500-2000 F per meal. Market food 700-900 F. Sit-down restaurants expensive at US$20-30 minimum.
Language
French and Tahitian are the primary languages. English is widely spoken in tourist areas, hotels, and restaurants.
Money
French Pacific Franc (XPF) is used. Credit cards accepted at hotels and larger shops; market vendors and small establishments are often cash only. ATMs available at the airport and in town.
Transport
Walkable city center. Le truck (local bus) runs city-wide for about 100 F. Taxis expensive: 1000 F base + 130 F/km. Use waterfront taxi stands; meters are not used—confirm fare before boarding.
