Overview
Pandeglang is the regency capital of one of Java's southwesternmost regions, serving as a regional economic centre for surrounding fishing towns and the gateway to Ujung Kulon National Park. The town itself has a population of about 40,000 and features the large Alun-Alun central square with streetfood stalls and a Javan rhinoceros statue, reflecting the area's famous conservation resident.
