Overview
Paithan (ancient Pratishthan) served as the capital of the Satavahana dynasty and was once a major commerce hub in the 1st-2nd century CE. Today it preserves this heritage through traditional Paithani silk weaving—a centuries-old art still practiced in local workshops where artisans create exquisite zari-bordered saris by hand.
