Culture
Orania is an intentional Afrikaner community where residents must identify as Afrikaner, speak Afrikaans as a first language, and be Dutch Reformed Christians. Visitors of all backgrounds are welcome but should be respectful of local customs.
Money
Orania uses both the South African rand and its own local currency, the ora (pegged 1:1 to the rand). The ora is a novelty for tourists and cannot be used outside town. Credit cards may be accepted at the hotel.
Safety
The town has an exceptionally low crime rate. Standard travel safety practices are still recommended.
Transport
Public transport is very limited. The town is walkable, and bike rental is available. Renting a car in Kimberley (160 km away) is the best option for reaching Orania.
