Overview
Nishapur is a historic Silk Road city in eastern Iran, once one of the world's largest metropolises with nearly 2 million residents at its 12th-century peak. The city draws travelers to the mausoleums of Persian giants Omar Khayyam and Attar of Nishapur, and to shop for Neyshabur turquoise, a gemstone traded for over 2000 years.
