Níjar's Moorish heritage is evident in its whitewashed architecture and ceramics tradition. Dress modestly when visiting churches. Siesta culture means some shops close 2-5 PM.

The area is generally very safe. Sun exposure and dehydration are primary concerns in summer. Beach access roads can become congested in peak season.
