Overview
New England National Park protects one of Australia's finest remaining stands of Gondwana Rainforest, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2007. Perched at 1,563 m elevation, Point Lookout offers sweeping views of ancient forests stretching to the Tasman Sea—a panorama unavailable elsewhere in the region.

Connectivity
No mobile coverage throughout most of the park. Carry a satellite phone if exploring beyond the western entrance alone.
Fees
No park entry fee as of March 2024. Camping fees apply separately at Thungutti campground.
Safety
Park can close without notice during bushfires. Be aware that 2019-20 fire damage is still visible in some areas.
Transport
Car required—no public transport reaches the park. Rentals available in Coffs Harbour and Armidale. Roads are unpaved but 2WD-accessible.
Weather
Cool climate year-round due to high altitude. Pack a jacket even in summer; winters can be cold with occasional snow.
