Supplies are quite cheap due to proximity to India, especially vegetables. Many Nepalis cross the border to shop in Rupaidiha, India.

Easy to move around by bicycle or hire one of the many rickshaws. The town is a central point for the Mid-Western Region with road and air connections.

Sub-tropical climate. April–June can exceed 40°C. Monsoon July–September. Winters can be foggy with temperatures below 10°C.
