Nashik is a major Hindu pilgrimage site. Remove shoes before entering temples. Dress modestly covering shoulders and knees.
Food
College Road has the best dining variety. Try local Maharashtrian thali at Chetana or Pangat. Street chaat and samosas cost Rs.20-50.
Language
Marathi is the local language. Hindi and English are widely understood, especially in tourist areas and on College Road.
Money
India uses Indian Rupees (₹). ATMs are widely available. Cash is preferred at street vendors and smaller establishments. Credit cards accepted at hotels and larger restaurants.
Transport
Nashik Road railway station connects to Mumbai and Pune. Auto-rickshaws are the cheapest local transport. MSRTC buses operate from the New CBS Bus Stand.
Weather
Best visited October-March. Summers are hot but nights cool. Monsoon (June-Sept) brings heavy rain. Winters can be cold at night (5°C).
