Overview
Narvik is a compact Arctic city in northern Norway that punches above its weight as a destination. Founded in 1902 as an ice-free port for Swedish iron ore, it gained fame as the site of the Battle of Narvik in 1940—the first real engagement between Allied and German troops after months of phony war.
