Overview
Nanyang is a horseshoe-shaped basin in southwestern Henan Province, surrounded by mountains on three sides with an opening to the south. The city is named after its location south of Funiu Mountain and north of the Han River.

Culture
Nanyang hosts the annual Zhuge Liang Cultural Tourism Festival and Jade Carving Festival (September 25th). The city is known as a birthplace of Chinese jade carving culture.
Food
Local specialties include Nanyang Sugar Roast pastries, Henan Stewed Beef, Bówàng Guōkuī flatbread, and Fāngchéng Huìmiàn noodles. Sweet soups are traditional beverages.
Transport
Nanyang Jiangying Airport has flights to 20 Chinese cities. Bus K4 connects the airport to the city center. High-speed trains available from Nanyang East Railway Station.
Weather
Four distinct seasons with cold winters (avg -3°C to 3°C in January) and hot summers (avg 24-29°C in July). Summer brings abundant rainfall; winters are cold and dry.
