Mugecuo offers jaw-dropping alpine scenery without the crowds found at more famous Chinese parks. The park contains five lakes, with Mugecuo being the largest, set against snow-capped mountains.

Before you go
Food
No food vendors or restaurants inside Mugecuo Park. Pack all food and water from Kangding before entering.
Money
No ATMs or card facilities exist in the park. Bring sufficient cash from Kangding for the ¥100 entrance fee and ¥120 bus fee.
Packing
Bring layers for changing temperatures, sturdy walking shoes, sunscreen, and all food/water. No facilities means complete self-sufficiency during your visit.
Transport
Only taxis can reach the park gate from Kangding. Chartered minibuses are prohibited inside the park. Budget around 30-60 minutes for the 21 km journey.
Weather
Autumn (September-October) offers the best scenery with fall colors. Winter sees very few visitors but brings cold temperatures and potential snow.
