Overview
Mount Roraima is the highest tepuy (table mountain) on the triple border of Venezuela, Brazil, and Guyana, standing around 2,800m tall. Its name derives from 'Roroi-ma,' meaning 'big blue-green' in Pemon language.

Money
Guides and porters are hired in Paraitepuy. Get written contracts from tour companies before paying. Umbrellas available for purchase.
Packing
Umbrellas essential. Sleeping bag and mattress needed. Reduce kit weight to minimize porter needs and trail degradation.
Safety
Hygiene at camps is poor. Traveler's diarrhea can persist and be debilitating. River crossings may require waiting for water levels to drop.
Transport
Rutaca Airlines flies from Ciudad Bolívar and Puerto Ordaz to Santa Elena de Uairén. Night buses from multiple Venezuelan cities and Boa Vista, Brazil. Bus temperatures are cold (around 7°C).
Weather
Frequent rain on the summit with cool nights at altitude. Be prepared for changeable weather and potential waterfall downpours on the trail.
