Morgantown is the third largest city in West Virginia and the state's flagship college town, home to West Virginia University's 30,000+ students. WVU Mountaineers sports are central to local culture. High Street is the nightlife hub. Downtown and Sunnyside (near main campus) are main bar areas. State law requires alcohol purchasers to be 21+.

US dollars accepted everywhere. Credit cards widely accepted at hotels, restaurants, and shops. ATMs available at banks and campus locations.
Safety
Generally safe for a city of its size. Standard urban precautions apply, especially late at night near bar areas. Steep hiking trails at Core Arboretum can be slippery.
Transport
Morgantown PRT connects campus and downtown for 50¢ per trip. Mountain Line buses cost $0.75–$1.00. Interstate highways I-79 and I-68 provide regional access. Parking garages downtown cost around $1-2/hour.
Weather
Four distinct seasons with hot, humid summers and cold winters with occasional snow. Best time to visit is spring or fall for mild temperatures. Summer is quieter but many students leave town.
