Overview

Currency is Euro (€). ATMs available in L'Escala and L'Estartit. Most establishments accept cards but some small shops and markets may be cash-only. Tipping is not expected but appreciated for good service.

Safety

Cliff paths can be dangerous in strong winds. Leave no trace—littering strictly forbidden. Motor vehicles restricted to marked roads. Fire risk is high; use only designated fire areas. Wildlife is protected; observation encouraged over interaction.

Access via L'Escala, L'Estartit, or Torroella de Montgrí. Bus connections to Girona and Barcelona. Nearest airport: Girona-Costa Brava (45 km). Ports at Port de l'Escala (from €15/day) and Port of Estartit (from €30). Free parking at L'Estartit beach and Gola del Ter.

Weather

Mediterranean climate: hot dry summers (25-26°C July-August, <20mm rain), mild wet winters (6-12°C January). October is wettest (90mm). Spring/autumn variable. Best for diving: summer. Best for birds: November-February when rice paddies flood.
