Overview
Monteriggioni is one of Italy's best-preserved medieval walled towns, built between 1213-1219 by the overlords of Siena to command the Cassia Road. The nearly circular walls span about 570 metres with 14 towers on square bases and two gates (Porta Fiorentina toward Florence, Porta Romana toward Rome).
