Overview
Mönchengladbach ("MG" to locals) is a mid-sized German city of 262,000 people more famous abroad for its Borussia Mönchengladbach football club than for tourism. The city has a small-town feel despite its population—limited public transit after dark, few nightlife options, and no cinema scenes—making it a poor standalone destination but a reasonable stop for Bundesliga fans or those visiting nearby Düsseldorf or Cologne.
