Overview
Mitiaro is the fourth island in the Cook Islands, a small volcanic outcrop standing in water 4500 m deep. At just 6.4 km across, it offers genuine remoteness and slow travel—the antithesis of crowded resort islands.

Before you go
Connectivity
No internet or mobile phone reception exists on the island—plan accordingly for a completely offline visit.
Culture
Locals may borrow your belongings without asking; this is normal sharing behavior in Cook Islands culture, not stealing. Return items upon request.
Food
Bring imported goods (butter, eggs, meat, spices) from larger islands as they are expensive on Mitiaro. Fresh bread available Tue/Thu/Sat at Pa's store.
Transport
Flights operate 3-4 times weekly from Rarotonga (50 min) via Air Rarotonga. Baggage limit is 16 kg. Irregular freighter service is available but unpredictable.
