Overview
Messina is Sicily's northeastern gateway, a working port city where most travelers stop only to catch the ferry across to mainland Italy. Though rebuilt after the devastating 1908 earthquake and WWII bombing, the city preserves a handsome cathedral, Italy's largest astronomical clock, and sweeping views over the Strait of Messina.
