Overview
Mesaieed is a small industrial town in southern Qatar, primarily known for its oil and gas industry. Founded in 1949 as a tanker terminal, nearly all 15,000 residents work for Qatar Petroleum, which monopolizes local services and schools.

Qatar's currency is the riyal (QAR). Credit cards accepted at hotels and Dunes Mall, but cash may be needed for desert tours.
Safety
Desert driving requires 4WD vehicles and caution. Consider guided tours for Khor Al Udeid. ATVs can be dangerous on sand dunes.
Transport
Car rental is recommended for exploring. Sealine Beach Road has ATV rental tents. Public transport is very limited in Mesaieed.
Weather
Summer (May-September) is extremely hot (40-50°C). Best visiting season is October to April for comfortable outdoor activities.
