Overview
Memphis (Men-Nefer, 'enduring and beautiful') was one of ancient Egypt's great capital cities, first established by Pharaoh Narmer towards the end of the 4th millennium BC. Today the site features a fine sculpture museum in Mit Rahina village, 24km south of Cairo, showcasing the grandeur of ancient Egypt including a colossal statue of Ramses II.
