Overview
Meiringen is a small Alpine town famous for a fictional event: the 1892 death of Sherlock Holmes at Reichenbach Falls, which Sir Arthur Conan Doyle staged here at the suggestion of ski pioneer Henry Lunn. The town has fully embraced this literary connection with a Sherlock Holmes museum and annual pilgrimages by fans.
