Medina is Islam's second holiest city, visited by pilgrims after completing the Hajj or as part of Umrah. The Prophet's Mosque (Al-Masjid al-Nabawi) is the focal point, where the Prophet Muhammad is buried.

Culture
Medina is Islam's second holiest city. Non-Muslims can now visit but the Prophet's burial site inside the mosque is restricted to Muslims. Dress modestly and respect prayer times.
Etiquette
Remove shoes before entering mosques. Photography of the Prophet's tomb is prohibited. Non-Muslims may enter mosque grounds but not the burial chamber.
Money
Saudi Riyal (SAR) is the local currency. Credit cards accepted at chains and larger businesses but smaller vendors prefer cash. Few banks exchange travelers' checks.
Safety
Beware of airport scammers. Dress conservatively - shorts attract unwanted attention. No eating, drinking, or smoking in public during Ramadan daylight hours.
Transport
Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz Airport is served by taxi, Uber, and public bus route 400. Medina railway station connects to Mecca via high-speed train (2 hours). SAPTCO buses run regular (SR 55) and VIP (SR 100) to Mecca.
Weather
Summers are extremely hot (43°C). Best visiting months are October to March (15-30°C). Ramadan brings restrictions on eating/drinking in public during daylight.
