Mahajanga (also called Majunga) is Madagascar's premier tourist city on the west coast along the Mozambique Channel. It gets less rain than the Indian Ocean east coast, making it a more reliable dry-season destination.

WiFi is available at some accommodations including Convent Sacré-Coeur and Chez Tranquille, but connectivity can be limited in the city.
Money
ATMs available at MCB, BFV-SG, BNI, and Accesbanque accept both Mastercard and Visa. BOA and BMOI only work with Visa cards. Exchange rates are better in town than at airports.
Transport
Bajaj (tuk-tuks) cost 2,000 Ar per ride within the city. Cotisse transport runs six daily minibuses to Antananarivo from 55,000 Ar with seat reservations.
Weather
The west coast is drier than the east, making Mahajanga a more reliable destination during rainy season compared to other parts of Madagascar.
