Overview
Macroom is a quiet market town in County Cork, halfway along the N22 between Cork and Killarney. It saw significant conflict through the centuries, most recently during the Anglo-Irish and Civil War of 1919-22, leaving several tower houses and a castle gatehouse as reminders.
