Overview
Maó (Mahon) is the capital of Menorca, a island that contrasts with its party-hearty Balearic siblings Mallorca and Ibiza. The city is built around one of the Mediterranean's finest natural harbours, a 5 km sheltered inlet that drew Carthaginians, Romans, Moors, Ottomans, British and French in turn.
