Overview
Lund is one of Sweden's oldest cities, founded around 990 CE, and served as the religious center of Scandinavia when the Archdiocese of Lund was established in 1103. Today it is best known for Lund University, the second-oldest in Sweden, which gives the city a youthful energy and exceptional cultural offerings for its size.

Money
Sweden is largely cashless. Cards are accepted virtually everywhere, including small shops and market stalls. Cash can be withdrawn from ATMs (Bankomat) throughout the city. Currency is Swedish Krona (SEK).
Safety
Lund is extremely safe. Bicycle theft is the main crime concern. Weekend nights may bring rowdy drunk students near bars and nations. Exercise normal precautions.
Transport
Lund Central Station is the main hub with frequent trains to Malmö (12 min) and Copenhagen (under 1 hr). The city is walkable and bike-friendly. Local buses operated by Skånetrafiken cover wider area.
Weather
Summers are mild (15-25°C) with long days; winters are cold (0-5°C) with short days. Spring and fall are transitional. Rain is possible year-round.
