Overview

Lourdes is the largest Marian pilgrimage centre in the world, where Saint Bernadette Soubirous reported 18 visions of the Virgin Mary at the Massabielle Grotto in 1858. The town receives hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, drawn by faith, healing hopes, or architectural interest in its three major basilicas and underground St.

Transport

Lourdes train station (Gare de Lourdes) connects to major French cities. Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées Airport has flights from Paris. The town is walkable; a car is only needed for Pyrenees exploration.
