Connectivity
No mobile phone service exists on the island. Internet is available at the visitor information centre for a fee. Wi-Fi at some accommodation can be unreliable.
Food
Restaurants require noon booking and offer limited menus (around four dishes). Lunch available until 2PM only. Shops close around 6PM. Plan meals in advance to avoid going hungry.
Money
All prices in Australian dollars (AUD). Credit card acceptance unclear; carry cash for smaller purchases at Thompson's Store and activities.
Safety
Cliffs are unfenced and have caused fatalities. Rescue from the mainland requires helicopter, so take care near edges, especially on mountain tracks.
Transport
Daily Qantas flights from Sydney are the only scheduled public access. Book accommodation and flights together due to visitor caps. Bicycles are the main local transport; no taxis exist.
Weather
Visit in summer for best weather (warm, breezy). Winter is cooler, rainier, and windier. Tropical cyclones are rare but possible.
