Culture
Bakweri culture is prominent with traditional dress (gaba ngondo), cocoyam dishes, and palm wine traditions. The city is predominantly Christian with a Muslim minority.
Language
English and French are official languages; Pidgin English is widely spoken. This makes Limbe relatively accessible for English-speaking travelers compared to much of Cameroon.
Money
Cameroon uses the CFA Franc BEAC (XAF). ATMs are limited in Limbe; carry sufficient cash for accommodations and local expenses. Major hotels may accept card payments.
Safety
Limbe is described as one of Cameroon’s safest cities with low crime rates. Standard urban precautions still apply.
Transport
Buses connect Limbe to Douala and Buea. Shared taxis and motorbike taxis (benskin) provide local transport. Boats serve coastal villages including Idenau.
Weather
Dry season (November–February) offers the best conditions. Heavy rains from June to September, especially near Debunscha which receives 10,000 mm annually.
