Overview
Limassol is Cyprus's second-largest city and its principal sea port, offering a more cosmopolitan atmosphere than other Cypriot destinations. The city combines a renovated historic old town near Limassol Castle with a lively beachfront promenade stretching 7 km from Municipal Gardens to the Old Port.

Mobile coverage is excellent throughout the city. WiFi is available in most hotels, cafes, and restaurants. EU-style power plugs (Types G and F) are used.
Culture
Limassol is known as the party capital of Cyprus, especially during carnival season. The city has a cosmopolitan feel with international business presence.
Food
Traditional meze is excellent value. Avoid colorful tourist cafes near beaches for better prices elsewhere. Local souvlaki and kebab shops offer quick cheap meals.
Language
Greek is the official language; English is widely spoken, especially in tourist areas. Turkish is also spoken by part of the population.
Money
Cyprus uses the Euro (€). Credit cards are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, and shops. ATMs are readily available throughout the city.
Safety
General crime is low. Tap water is safe to drink. Dial 112 for emergency services including ambulance.
Transport
Local buses serve the city and surrounding areas. Taxis are metered and affordable. Rental cars are recommended for exploring beaches and archaeological sites outside the city center.
Weather
Mediterranean climate with hot dry summers (June-September, 25-35°C) and mild wet winters. Best beach weather May-October.
