Overview
Letchworth State Park is a magnificent 17-mile-long swath of parkland where the Genesee River has carved a stunning gorge through the landscape, creating three spectacular waterfalls that have captivated visitors for generations. Known as "The Grand Canyon of the East," the park offers some of the most dramatic natural scenery in the entire Northeast, with cascading falls, dense forests, and abundant wildlife.

Camping $21-27/night, cabins $30-115/night, Glen Iris Inn $100-400. Most accommodations available late April through early November.

Limited cell reception; payphones near camping areas. No public WiFi except slow connection at Glen Iris Inn.
Fees
$10 per vehicle entry fee (collected 9AM-5PM during busy season). Free entry via Dam and Parade Grounds entrances on the east side.
Packing
Bring food and supplies; park concessions are limited. Sturdy hiking shoes, insect repellent, and layers for variable weather are essential.
Safety
Sporadic cell service throughout; no reception near Middle and Upper Falls. Lyme disease ticks are prevalent; stay on marked trails and check for ticks after hiking.
Transport
The park is located 50 miles east of Buffalo and 40 miles south of Rochester via I-390. No public transit serves the park; a personal vehicle is essential.
Weather
Summer highs 70-80°F (20-27°C); winters around freezing with significant lake-effect snow. Best times are late spring through fall.
