Overview
Lerwick is the capital and main town of the Shetland Islands, 6760 residents making it the only place with any real urban feel. It's the obvious base for exploring the archipelago: a working fishing port with a weathered old town of stone buildings, a compact pedestrianised Commercial Street, and a breezy Atlantic atmosphere.
