Overview
Lelystad is a young city—its land was ocean floor at the bottom of the Zuiderzee until the 20th century. While the town centre is considered unremarkable compared to Almere, the outskirts hold surprisingly worthwhile attractions: the Aviodrome aviation museum, the Bataviawerf replica 17th-century shipyard, and vast wetlands for birdwatching.
