Overview
Langzhong is one of China's four ancient cities, a mostly unadulterated section of ancient architecture closed to vehicle traffic on the Jialing River. The town served as the headquarters of Zhangfei during the late Han dynasty and remains famous as the home of this legendary warrior-king.

Accommodation
Traditional courtyard homestays in the ancient town cost around ¥100 for doubles. Look for 住宿 signs or walk into inviting courtyards. The pedestrianized old town makes walking the primary transport method once settled.
Culture
Langzhong is known as the 'Hometown of Chinese New Year Culture.' Key festivals include Spring Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, Qingming, Zhang Fei Cultural Festival (May 1), Double Ninth Festival, and Qixi Festival.
Food
Local specialties include triad oil, Chinese pickles, sweet potato products, and osmanthus nectar. Spicy noodles, hot pot tripe, and tofu rice are common street foods. Snack Street near city center has multiple food stalls.
Money
Cash is widely accepted in Langzhong. Some hotels and larger restaurants accept WeChat Pay and Alipay. Carry some cash for small vendors and traditional courtyard stays that may not have card machines.
Transport
Langzhong has a simple bus system connecting the bus station, Grand Buddha, and old town. Taxis start at ¥4.5 flag fall. Tourist buses and ferries connect to East Mountain Forest Park across the river.
Weather
Subtropical humid monsoon climate with distinct seasons. Spring and autumn are ideal (17-27°C). Summer is hot and humid with heavy rainfall (1000-1200mm annual). Winter is mild but damp. Humidity stays high year-round at 70-80%.
