Surrounding plateaus reach 4200m. Acclimatize before strenuous hikes and be aware of altitude sickness symptoms.
Language
English is limited; Lesha's restaurant has basic English. Zhaxi Guesthouse owner barely speaks English but enjoys practicing with guests. Horse trekking operators generally speak good English.
Transport
Only one direct bus daily from Xiahe (7AM, ¥30-40). Alternative route via Hezuo with taxi transfer to South Bus Station. Car hire from Xiahe costs at least ¥350.
