Overview
Lakhpat is a hauntingly empty ghost town in far-flung Kutch where 15,000 traders once lived but fewer than 500 remain today. The abandoned port, silting up after the Indus changed course following an 1819 earthquake, offers atmospheric 7km fort walls, Sufi shrine complexes, and 19th-century Custom House ruins.
