Overview
Ladenburg claims the title of oldest German city on the right bank of the Rhine, founded as a Celtic settlement 3,000 years ago and granted city status by Roman Emperor Trajan in 98 AD. Its compact Altstadt (old town) features half-timbered houses dating to the Late Middle Ages, when the town prospered as seat of the Prince-Bishopric of Worms.
