Overview
Lac-Mégantic is a resilient francophone town of 6,000 in Quebec's Eastern Townships, near the Maine border. Built on forestry and granite, it survived a catastrophic 2013 crude oil train derailment that incinerated downtown, and has since rebuilt with new construction and public spaces.
