Overview
Kuria is the widest island in Kiribati, providing noticeably cooler temperatures than neighboring islands. This cooler climate is so pronounced that at night coconut oil visibly solidifies.

Limited communications; most villages have a public phone but mobile coverage is unreliable. Advise family of travel plans before arrival.

Food is locally sourced and whatever is available. Bring supplies from mainland Kiribati if specific dietary needs exist.

Remote island with no pharmaceuticals and only a local clinic. Bring all medications and basic medical supplies. Flexible plans needed due to transport delays.
Transport
Boat is the only access to Kuria from other Gilbert Islands. Transport delays are common. Motorbikes and trucks available for island tours.
Water
Bring additional drinking water supplies as local water sources may not be reliable for visitors.
