Overview
Kumlinge is a small island municipality in the Åland archipelago with only 315 permanent residents, making it one of the smallest municipalities in the region. The islands are off the beaten track despite their seemingly central location between Finland and Åland.

Language
Swedish is the only official language (unilingually Swedish). English is understood. Finnish is not widely spoken.
Money
Kumlinge is part of Åland and uses the Euro (€). Credit cards accepted at some establishments but carry some cash for smaller shops and taxis.
Safety
Poisonous vipers present in nature areas. Remote location means limited emergency services. Ticks are a year-round concern.
Transport
Ferry is the primary way to reach Kumlinge. Northern Line connects to Vårdö and Brändö; Cross Line connects to mainland Åland and southern islands. Shared taxis must be booked by 20:00 the day before.
